BOROUGH HIGH STREET
This 11,500m2 scheme on behalf of CVU was undertaken over a weekend block closure commencing on the 12th of January 2018. ELM Surfacing assisted with orchestrating and resourcing the 5 consecutive shifts including all skilled labour and associated plant. We successfully planed and laid almost 5,000 tonnes of material and finished a shift early!
The success of the scheme demonstrates how carriageway possession can increase productivity and reduce overall disruption. If this scheme was undertaken with typical night-time working restrictions then it would normally take 10 shifts. This reiterates how problematic schemes can be effectively delivered by embracing our ECI culture.
KINGSTON HIGH STREET
ELM Surfacing delivered this on behalf of Kier Highways and the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames in early June 2018. This scheme entailed surfacing a new cycle path which is part of the Mini-Holland cycle initiative in the Borough and a full carriageway reprofile. The highlight of these works is what we managed to offer our Client as a value added solution.
In the challenging times of budget cuts ELM Surfacing successfully increased the scope of works to incorporate an additional 800m2 that had previously been de-scoped due to lack of funding. We managed to do this by offering a varied solution to the original design and offered a bespoke operational solution.
TOW PATH, RIVER MEDWAY
Elm Surfacing Ltd carried out a project for Bam Nuttall using our Super 800 Paver to undertake the upgrading of 2000 square metres of the footpath and cycleway on a shared tow path between Aylesford and Allington Lock in Kent.
The primary objective of the works was to upgrade the construction and change the alignment to provide the public with a continuous safe route for access and leisure. We carried this out in a timely fashion whist having to overcome extremely difficult issues as there was restricted access. Due to these restrictions we had to load the asphalt into dumpers to feed the Super 800 Paver.
